Mpanda Town Council has an area of 90.4 Sq Kilometres. The Council has one Division with six(6) Wards whcih have an estimated population of 57,324 people. The Council has a total of seven (7) health facilities among then 1 is a Govt. H/centre, 1 belongs to a voluntary agency, 3 Private Dispensaries and 2 FBO. Malaria, Clinical AIDS, Anaemia, PTB and Diarrhoea are the major causes of morbility and mortality in Mpanda TC.
Population: According to the year 2002 Population and Housing Census the population was 47,242 people, the Town council is currently inhabited by 56,559 people Out of these, 27,074 are males and 29,485 are females. The growth rate is 3.6% per annum and population density is 4.5

Mpanda Town Council will be a reliable high quality service provider economically and socially based on good governance and enabling its residents to exploit sustainably, the available resources for their development by the year 2025. |

Council Mission : The vision of the Council outlines what an end state which aspires to reach by 2025. Thus the council intends to coordinate and provide high quality services economically, socially, and politically guided by the doctrines of good governance through creation prerequisite environment for its people to develop.

CLIMATE: Mpanda council is mostly semi-arid due to low and erratic annual rainfall ranging from 920mm to 1200mm. Rainfall is the most important climatic factor in the council. It falls in a single rainy season between October - May. Generally, these rain fall in heavy storms resulting in flash floods. |
VEGETATION |
The characteristic vegetation of the council is of bush or thicket type. This is formed wherever the natural vegetation has been destroyed by agricultural activities , grazing and fire, regenerating bushes mixed with short lived annual grasses and herbs. |
