CHILDREN POLICY

Since independent 1961, the Government has been formulating and tried to implement policies with various planning targeting to give development to all citizens. The same price the government increased its focus to the children considering their future and their rights.

A child termed different and some times law it self is contradicting in terms of the age of a child. Harmonization has been made and different policies consider a child is that of below 18 years, this as well is what known by the government of Tanzania and various international or obligation treaties, the government had signed on Children's rights. a country's constitution consider child is that of below 18 years.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT POLICY

Community Development Department in Rukwa Region is abiding with a Child Development Policy because it entails the following:-

• i. To describe what the child mean according to the Tanzanian environments

• ii. To educate the community to understand the basic rights of children

• iii. To provide guidelines on direction, life, protection and development to the children

• iv. To provide care to the children living in difficult condition

• v. To enable the community to realize sources of problems facing children

• vi. To give children a right direction to enable them to be good citizens

• vii. To make explanation on children, parents Gardner's, community, institutions and government responsibilities on planning, coordination and implementation on all plan concerning children

• viii. To make emphasis to the both parents especially male and female together on taking care and growth of a child

• ix. To educate the community children are inherited good culture

• x. To make sure there are laws which will be used to go against with all kind of child discriminations

 

2.2. CHILDREN`S RIGHTS

Tanzania adhere to the UN convention on the children's rights that approved by United Nation Council on 20 th November, 1989. Rukwa Region this also put into consideration the Community Development Department recognizes children's rights and make advocacy awareness and sensitization to the entire Community. The below outlined are just some of children's rights:-

•  Every child has right to live and the country has responsibility to make sure a child live and grow

•  A child has right to live with his/her parents and he/she has to establish communication with his/her parents

•  A child should not isolated by his/her parents

•  The government has to take measure immediately to the children who are kidnapped or custody to the foreign county

•  A child has right to give out suggestions or opinion without fear or threaten

•  A child has right to speak, provide information and to receive information to make his/her feelings to be known regardless political boundaries

•  A child has right to be protected from any kind of discrimination, oppression and despaired by the community

•  A child with no family has right to be protected

•  A refugee child has right to be protected by the county he/she fled into in collaboration with agencies dealing on that field

•  A child with disability has right to access special training and education to ensure his/her person dignity and to be respected

•  A child has right to access and receive at great rate healthy services and treatment

•  A child has right to be protected from child labour

•  A child has right to be protected from drug abuse

•  A child has right to be protected by the government from sexual harassment

•  The government is obliged to stop selling , transportation and robbery of children

•  Any involvement of children in wars as solders or sexual leisure's should be stopped

 

In that regards Community Development Departments works along those guidelines to make sure what's real intended are fulfilled. We all knows from the strong basis is where we can have a very intelligent, self confident and healthier generation who will ultimately become our good leaders and expertise.

 

Community Development Department in Rukwa Region through Child of Africa Day celebrations that took place every 16 th June, by using this day community awareness is done to sensitize on the rights of children as well as to remind parents their responsibilities to the children.
