The Planning section is an advisory and technical resource to any LGA and associated organisations in their efforts to build capacity and expertise in economic analysis, the main activties of planning section includes:

1. Advisory in capacity building for LGAS and co-ordinates the resulting work in technical area;

2. Support LGAs in review of opportunities and obstacles to development;

3. Preparation of the section's draft capacity building proposals arising from O&OD process;

4. Interpretation and issuance of guidance on advice to LGAs and other organisations relating to technical support;

5. Support LGAs in development interventions to address the opportunities and obstacles identified to be included in the RS ARSIPs;

6. Monitoring and evaluation of the impact of specialist expert to support capacity building in LGAs;

7. Monitoring implementation of central government policies by LGAs as directed by the AAS;

8. Contribution to Regional profiles and assist LGAs in preparing District and Divisional profiles;

9. Establish economic key indicators for use to measure develoment progress;

10. Carring out any other delegated duties from central ministries, as directed by the AAS.
